Good Shepherd Lutheran Early Childhood Center offers a balanced combination of hands-on learning and structured classroom time, while developing each child's joy of knowing the Lord.

We are a few weeks into the school year now. We have taken time to learn about each other and our families. We have made self portraits, team picture collages and brought pictures of our family to school to share with the class. We have practiced math concepts using puzzles, magnetic building toys, blocks and counting games. We have developed our fine motor skills by using play dough, clay and sorting games using tweezers. We have learned about colors and how they can be combined to make new colors in our science centers. We worked on large motor development doing a long jump activity and an egg balance game. Finally we are continually working on self esteem and social-emotional development by taking turns during circle, working together on puzzles, games and doing team projects.
The children have had a great time with Miss Mary during chapel time on Wednesdays. They have learned about God's creation and God's power and love during chapel. After speaking to them, we learned that they loved taking turns adding all of the plants, animals, birds, clouds, etc. that God created to a large felt board that Miss Mary used in her teaching.
We have a great parenting class coming up on October 4th, called "Setting Healthy Boundaries". The class will be taught by Barbara Richart. Our school will be closing at 5:00 p.m. that day to let parents go home, take care of their families and be back at the church by 7:00 p.m. for the class. This class should be a great resource for all parents with young children. We hope to see you all there.
Please be sure to take some time during each week to look in your child's classroom, check the bulletin boards and your child's home/school communication folder. We want you to always be informed and feel included in your child's education here at Good Shepherd Preschool.
