Welcome to the Good Shepherd's Children's Ministry Page

We're trying to build a ministry at Good Shepherd that kids embrace -- and that embraces kids. We believe that Jesus loves children. We also believe that children are able to understand the mysteries of God and the Word, sometimes even more clearly than adults. We aim to point children to Jesus and steer them back to loving relationships in their families. We also want to train them to love the Word of God and reach the world for Jesus Christ.

Northwestern College graduate Jared Langness leads the program. A middle school math teacher at Oaks Christian School, the native of Ishpeming, Michigan, is the oldest of eight children in his family. Jared also graduated from a Bible School in Minneapolis -- and serves on part-time staff of AFLC Home Missions as a "Parish Builder" in the AFLC.

Sunday Morning Children's Program:

10:00 a.m. - Sunday School for all ages. Students gather in the quad on a colorful parachute for a brief time of singing, then break into small groups to here solid, Biblical teaching.

11:00 a.m. - Hands on Bible Program, offered during our 11 a.m. worship service for kids ages 4 through 10. Hands on Bible is a Bible exploration curriculum for kids. Each week kids will use the Bible. They'll explore God's Word, find key passages, and learn key Bible truths. Kids will learn to rely on God's Word, trust it, and turn to it daily. The Bible will spring to life through fun lessons, everyone's involved skits, powered-up praise music, and top-notch music videos. Students will begin to love the Bible. Life application is built into each lesson, because knowing God's Word isn't enough - kids need to live God's Word, too!
 

Nursery Care is available at 11:00 a.m. for infants and toddlers through 3 years of age.

NEW SMALL GROUP STARTS FOR BOYS: “The Rock”, a new small group starting for boys ages 7-12, meets every other Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the parsonage, 3064 Canopy Drive, Camarillo.  Pastor Jim Johnson leads a program for the boys which teaches them how to be leaders on which Jesus will build His future church.  “The Rock” usually begins with a fun physical activity and is followed by an exciting age-appropriate Bible study.  We want to raise up children about whom God says “on this rock I will build My church!” (Matthew 16:18).  Come and be blessed!

 GIRLS OF PROMISE: A sister group to “The Rock” is Girls of Promise, which meets every other Wednesday evening at the Johnson’s house, 3064 Canopy Drive, Camarillo, from 6:45 to 8:15.  Girls ages 8-12 make a craft, enjoy a snack, and learn about the promises that God has made to them as His beloved children.

 “PLAY AND PRAY” BASEBALL CLINICS MEET EVERY FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

Good Shepherd’s “Play and Pray” baseball clinics happen each week from 1:30 to 3:00.  We meet at Valle Lindo Park in cental Camarillo on Fridays.  The clinics contain instruction in baseball skills such as hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running, and conclude each week with a Bible study and prayer time where students learn how to communicate with their Heavenly Father.  We pray for each other and have a great time playing ball together!  Come and join us!
