Pastor Jim and Linda Johnson and their family came to Camarillo from Minneapolis in 2006. The Johnsons have served in ministry for the past 25 years -- training at Free Lutheran Seminary in Minneapolis and at a vibrant church in Lake Stevens, Washington. After being ordained in 1992, Jim has served in three primary locations with Linda: four years in Fosston, Minnesota, 10 years as dean and teacher at a college-level Bible School in Minneapolis called AFLBS, and now here in Southern California. They are raising their family in Camarillo and now live in a community near the sports park called Village at the Park. Jim and Linda were married in 1987 and love working together in ministry to strengthen marriages, build families, and encourage believers to grow. They have nine children. The oldest, Elizabeth, is a public school teacher in Minneapolis, the next four are in college -- Hannah, Lydia, Ben and Grace -- and the youngest four are students at Oaks Christian in Westlake Village and Pleasant Valley Christian in Camarillo. Their names are Seth, Miah, Isaiah and Titus. Two daughters, Liz and Lydia, were married last summer.
Naomi Andrews serves Good Shepherd in church administration. A gifted leader and administrator, she lives in Camarillo and helps manage finances, facilities and the Good Shepherd Front Porch. Naomi finished a Biblical studies degree at the Association Free Lutheran Bible School and Ministry Training Institute in Minneapolis in 2003 and 2005. Her Dad and Stepmom live in Little Falls, MN.
Ben Dahl serves in technology, website ministry and ministry assistant, and is an important part of the ministry team. A native of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Ben graduated from Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Minneapolis and is married to Debora, another AFLBS grad from Brazil.
Debora Dahl serves in our finances office as our bookkeeper and as administrative support in our Front Porch church office. Debora graduated from Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Minneapolis and is married to Ben Dahl.
Church Officers and Leadership Team
Jared Langness is the current congregational president at Good Shepherd. A long-time youth and children's worker, he is a teacher of math and Bible at Oaks Christian School. A native of northern Michigan, Jerod loves the Minnesota Twins, frisbee golf and watching student sporting events. He also coaches Middle School touch football at Oaks Christian and helps coordinate youth ministry at Good Shepherd.
Harry Ruzgarian serves as the church treasurer.
Ron Spooner serves as the financial secretary of the church council. A founding elder at Good Shepherd, Ron has gifts in both leadership and music -- he plays the upright bass for the Good Shepherd string ensemble at the 8:30 service. An engineer, sales rep and business owner, he loves to see things move forward. He and wife Monica have eight children -- the last two adopted from Uganda. Ron has a degree in engineering from Michigan State.
Brett Roberts serves as secretary. Brett and wife Danielle are raising three children in Camarillo. They both graduated from UCLA. A gifted leader with training in administration and engineering, Brett is a key leader on the Good Shepherd team. He grew up in Costa Mesa.
Stephan Lauxtermann serves as Deacon for Student Ministries at Good Shepherd.
Jason Webster serves as Deacon of Facilities.
Bobbie Overgaard serves as Hospitality Deacon.
Bill Chase serves as our new Deacon of Time & Talents. A former training coach and mentor with New York Life, he leads the Stephen Ministry at Good Shepherd and has a great heart for pastoral care. He and wife Burma live in Camarillo. He loves small group ministry, barbershop choral music and pointing people to Jesus Christ.
Karen Long serves as our new Deacon of Worship.
Rodger Bronner serves as Deacon of the Preschool
Lawrence Choi serves as Deacon of Sunday School.
Elders include the following:
Kenn Graham is a retired engineer and a member of the Gideons, a ministry that distributes Bibles. He is also a long-time member of the AFLC home mission committee. He and wife Geri were founding members of Good Shepherd, and served well as a team until Geri's death from cancer in January 2014. Kenn, a gifted administrator, had a long career in engineering. He graduated from the University of North Dakota.
Greg Seeba is a former deputy with the Ventura Sheriff's Department. He and wife Mary are raising three children in Camarillo. He is also involved with pastoral visitation and outreach to seniors in health care facilities. Greg also teaches Bible classes for Middle School students. Both Greg and Mary love to serve in the church as volunteers and leaders -- pointing people to Jesus Christ. They have three children, Nathaniel, Emily and Lauren.

Brad Schaub, A custom home builder and designer, Brad grew up in Newbury Park and Westlake Village. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara, he completed his masters degree at USC. A devoted soccer player and coach, Brad is also the assistant soccer coach for the Oaks Christian boys soccer team. He and wife Suzanne have been a part of Good Shepherd since it was a brand new church. Suzanne and Brad have two high school aged boys, Carter and Collin, and they live in the Village at the Park neighborhood of Camarillo.
David and Vivianne Twigg, are valuable ministry leaders at Good Shepherd. After joining the church in its early stages, the Twiggs soon moved into a position of service in music and worship and team leading. Dave, the son of faithful Christians and a veteran pastor, works as a sales rep in the pharmaceutical industry. He enjoys great music, a side business called Sir Round Sound, and many hours mentoring younger men and facilitating a small group. Vivianne is also a gifted leader with a heart for the Word of God and women's ministry. They have two children, Lindsey and Jasper.
Joel and Ana Maria Kilpatrick also lead worship ministry at Good Shepherd. The long-time members of Calvary Community Church lead worship times once a month with their six children. Both gifted journalists, Joel and Ana Maria are great communicators of the gospel, and superb musicians. They graduated from Sacramento State, and Ana Maria works at Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, and Joel is a free-lance journalist. He also has a nationally acclaimed website called, "Lark News," a site featuring the Christian humor that has led to several published books. Joel's father, Bob Kilpatrick, is a pastor in Santa Rosa, and an internationally known worship leader and speaker.
Other gifted worship leaders at Good Shepherd include: Mary Seeba, a skilled pianist and children's choir leader, Marlene Nord, a local artist, pianist and singer, Doug Conrow, a gifted guitarist, musician and educator who lives in Camarillo, Karen Long, (our current Worship Deacon) a pianist and singer who regularly writes songs for Good Shepherd worship, and the family of Ron and Monica Spooner, founding members with an outstanding family orchestra that plays regularly at the 8:30 services.
As a small and growing church, Good Shepherd has chosen to focus its resources on outreach and evangelism, and minimize office hours to five hours a day until we can afford a full-time office team.
The office is currently open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The reception team includes:
Naomi Andrews, Office Administrator. Naomi is an effective and joyful leader from Lancaster, CA. Naomi graduated from a Bible School and Missions training program in Minneapolis and moved to Camarillo in March 2013. She runs the front porch office every weekday from 9 a.m to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Debora Dahl, Bookkeeper. Debora, serves in our finances office as our bookkeeper and as administrative support in our Front Porch church office. Debora graduated from Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Minneapolis and is married to Ben Dahl.
